HEATHER TAILOR

An internationally recognized artist, life member and prominent Guild member for over 40 years, Heather Tailor has had a distinguished career in the Arts and in particular china painting, spanning five decades.

Heather has a Certificate in Onglaze Art and a Diploma of Art Studies and in 1978 started teaching the newly introduced Technical and Further Education Certificate in Onglaze Painting at Fremantle College, later becoming a full time lecturer at Claremont School of Art.

Heather Tailor, Sir Richard Court and authors Anne Blake & Kaye MacLean Heather resigned from her teaching position in 1994 to pursue a long held dream to open her own business 'Heather Tailor Porcelain Art' in Fremantle. Teaching since the late 1960s, Heather is still in great demand today and her regular demonstrations for the Guild are always very well attended.

The Guild celebrated its Golden Jubilee year in 2014 and fittingly Heather was president and presided over special celebrations which took place during that year. Celebrations culminated with a reunion for past and present members and the launch of a book - Golden Reflections, A celebration of 50 Years in early May. Pictured right is Heather with former State Premier Hon. Richard Court and book authors Kaye MacLean and Anne Blake at the reunion.

Amongst Heather's many achievements is the writing and publishing of three books (Easy Design Techniques co-authored with Helen Jones), two of the books being reprinted and translated into French, and one also published in the U.K. All books are currently out of print, however a limited number of Easy OnGlaze Techniques is available by contacting Heather Tailor.

Heather's art has encompassed many styles and techniques over the years but her most noted work is with Lustre - a medium she has made her own.

The recipient of many awards too numerous to mention here, illustrated on this page are examples of her work from various exhibitions.
